Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, an unemployed software engineer committed suicide after killing his wife and two-year-old daughter at his house in Yelahanka New Town on Monday night.
The police have identified the deceased as Amit Kumar Jha (35), Meenakshi Jan (30) and their daughger.
According to the police, the family, which hailed from Bihar, had been living in Bengaluru for the past six years. They were living in a rented house at Someshwaranagar, and their neighbours said they had to intervene after the couple got into a quarrel on the night of the tragedy.
The police said that both Amit and Meenakshi were engineering graduates, but Amit, who had quit from an IT firm a while back, was unable to get a job. His wife taught at a preschool in the area.
The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when the house maid knocked on their door. The house was locked and despite several calls, Meenakshi did not respond. Suspecting something amiss, the woman informed the landlord, who lives in the same building.
