Bengaluru: After serious charges levelled by the opposition against the chief minister on misuse of power, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has clarified that the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) report doing rounds on social media since last evening was fake.

The intel report, which is doing rounds on social media, has cautioned Siddaramaiah against contesting from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency.

Refuting those charges,CMO clarified that, “No such report has been submitted by the SIB” and added, “The SIB does not have an ADGP as of now and IB reports are submitted in Kannada and not English”.

DIG-Intelligence has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the issue and submit a report, CMO stated further.

The opposition has been crying foul over the CM ordering SIB to obtain information on the safe constituencies for the the CM to contest in the upcoming assembly polls.

Opposition leader and Janata Dal State President H D Kumaraswamy had alleged, “Obtaining the report even after the election schedule was announced is tantamount to misuse of power to win the polls”, and warned of lodging a complaint with the Election Commission against the CM for violating the model code of conduct.

The report apparently suggests that the CM could consider contesting from Varuna (Mysuru), Basavakalyan (Bidar), Gangavati (Koppal) and Shantinagar (Bengaluru) constituencies which are safe for him”, HDK said.
