Bengaluru: A day after the no-confidence motion moved by the Congress party against State Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankaramuthy got defeated by a margin of one vote, knives are out within the Congress party. MLC V S Ugrappa who was instrumental in moving the no-confidence motion is now facing the ire of Congress party leaders from his native Tumakuru district.
According to sources, Madhugiri MLA N Rajanna who is one of the betes noires of Ugrappa has already lodged an oral complaint against him with AICC State In-charge K C Venugopal over the issue. Rajanna held a 15-minute telephonic conversation with Venugopal on Friday and explained how this no-confidence motion hit the party's credentials at the national level.
If sources are to be believed, KPCC President Dr. G Parameshwara who still believes that Ugrappa plotted his defeat in Koratagere constituency in 2013 Assembly elections which burst his CM aspirations openly snubbed Ugrappa in a party meeting held after the no-confidence motion. Adding to this, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar also raised the issue with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and suggested him not to entertain Ugrappa's suggestions anymore.
Meanwhile, this defeat also hit the ministerial dream of senior MLC H M Revanna who along with Ugrappa moved the motion. "H M Revanna is a ministerial aspirant under Kuruba quota. But the defeat and embarrassment it brought to CM has ended his ministerial dreams," added a senior MLA.
