Bengaluru: Two students from Bengaluru, who were part of a group of 12 on a trip, drowned in Yeleramapura tank in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district on Tuesday.

The police identified the deceased as Harish, 21, and Nikhil, 22, students of a private college at Vijayanagar in Bengaluru.

The students had gone on a trip to Devarayanadurga temple and then they went to Yeleramapura tank. Some of the students went for a swim in the tank. Harish and Nikhil, who were sitting on a rock on the bank, reportedly slipped and fell into the tank, around 1.30 p.m. As both of them did not know how to swim, they drowned, according to the Kolala police.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel recovered the bodies.
