Two independent MLAs withdraw support from coalition

Bengaluru: Amid the political high drama in the Karnataka state politics following rumours of “Operation Lotus”, and some of the MLAs of the coalition government leaving for Mumbai and Delhi, comes yet another shocker. Two independent MLAs H Nagesh and R Shankar have withdrawn their support to the coalition government, here on Tuesday, January 15.

Explaining the reason behind withdrawing the support, Shankar said that the decision was taken to bring in a ‘change’ in the government and on the day of Makara Sankranti is apt for that.

He has expressed that the coalition was not stable and had failed in governance.

R Shankar said that he believed that the Bharatiya Janata Party was more stable than the coalition and could expect better performance.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that he had no worries about the same and that the withdrawal of support will not harm the functioning of the coalition government.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar said that the attempts of the BJP would fail as they were exhibiting money power.

While the leaders of the coalition are criticising the current developments in state politics, former chief minister Siddaramaiah has gone ahead and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his political campaign slogan, “Saaf Niyat, Sahi Vikas.”

He took to Twitter saying, “Mr. Saaf Niyat is allowing your disgraceful @BJP4Karnataka leaders to destabilize govt a ‘Saaf Niyat’ towards democracy? Your PR slogans does not hide your actual ‘Niyat’ & your ‘Sahi Vikas’ should go beyond developing Resorts. First show your Niyat to people!!”
