Bengaluru: The state transport department authorities, on Wednesday, seized 26 school buses that were found to be flouting safety norms as prescribed by the apex court.
The inspection drive was conducted by senior authorities of the department from early morning till the evening, on Wednesday. More than 300 school vehicles, including buses were inspected at the time of the drive.
"We have seized 26 school vehicles for not adhering to the Supreme Court's directions regarding the safety of students inside school vehicles. These seized vehicles belong to several elite schools in the city. Around 150 cases have been registered against the schools' respective management for violation of the rules," informed an officer from the department adding that the drive would continue for the next few days.
