Bengaluru: Transgender activist Akkai Padmashali, known for her fight for the rights of sexual minorities, has adopted a child. The baby has been named Avin.
The baby was adopted after seeking legal advice from advocate Jayna Kothari.
Akkai and her partner, Vasu have confirmed the news of the adoption. They informed that, as the adoption centres weren’t willing to give them children, they adopted the child from a relative.
“Akkai will be the mother while I will perform the duties of a father,” Vasu said.
