Bengaluru: Bengaluru is expected to come to a standstill today, with two separate protests planned at the heart of the city. The traffic police have advised all commuters to avoid major roads in the heart of the city.
Vehicular movement on the major roads, including Sheshadri road, Ananda Rao circle and CID circle, have been diverted to avoid traffic congestion.
The first protest is being carried out by North Karnataka’s farmers, who are demanding better compensation for the loss caused by the floods. They will hold a massive rally from the City Railway Station to the Freedom Park.
Another rally has been planned by the JD(S) led by party supremo and former prime minister H D Devegowda. The party is also demanding the expedition of relief works and a solution to the problems of the sugarcane growers of South Karnataka. Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and others will also participate in the protest.
The public has been asked to be cautious.
