Bengaluru: The lessons on Tipu will continue in all the textbooks between Class I and X in the state syllabus in the new academic year 2020-21 also. This comes as a big embarrassment for a few Hindutva forces, which were opposing the Tipu lessons.
Primary and Secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar confirmed the continuation of lessons on Tipu in the textbooks even in the new academic year.
“There is a need for detailed discussion before taking any decision. We need to start the textbook printing at the earliest. So in the textbooks for 2020-21 also Tipu lessons will continue,” he stated.
According to the sources, the experts’ committee appointed by the state education department suggested the state government to take a decision in this regard only after a detailed discussion.
It can be recalled that Madikeri MLA Appachchu Ranjan demanded the exclusion of the Tipu lessons from the textbooks alleging that he was anti-Hindu and anti-Kodava.
