Bengaluru: At least three more trains will run from Bengaluru city to the Kempegowda International Airport. A proposal in regard was made by the South Western Railways (SWR) division, which added that the recently built halt station (located 5 kilometres away from KIA) is ready for use.
Four pairs of trains were already being run between the airport and the city before the lockdown and according to TNM’s report, the three new trains will be in addition to the existing ones.
Reportedly, the three trains will run from Majestic (Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Railway Station), Yehalanka and Yeshwanthpur.
The trains from Majestic are likely to start at 4.45 am and 7 am and the train from Yehalnka will be leaving at 7 am, once they are operational.
The trains will be run at these times as they will be beneficial for the staff who work at the airport.
Approval for the additional trains are likey to be received after the next set of Unlock guidelines are issued by Union Home Minister Amit Shah Deputy General Manager, SWR, E Vijaya told TNM.
Meanwhile, now that the Union Government has approved the dedicated suburban rail, it is expected that commuters can reach the airport terminal directly by a train by the end of 2023.
