The lady is like my sister: Siddu clarifies after mike snatching row

Bengaluru: The controversy of acting rude with a woman party worker has become a major cause of embarrassment for former chief minister Siddaramaiah. He has drawn massive flak for his behaviour and it is said that the state women’s rights commission has decided to write to the police department about the same.

However, talking about the incident, the former CM has said that the lady in question is like a sister to him and that he has known her for over 15 years now.

It may be recalled that Siddaramaiah was in a village in Varun Constituency, which is represented by his son Dr Yatheendra. In a public meet, a local leader named Jamlath raised a few issues and said that the local MLA, Dr Yatheendra is not accessible to the people. A charged Jamlath thumped the table in front of the former CM to make her point, which left Siddaramaiah fuming.

Instantly, he snatched away the mike from the lady and asked her to be seated quietly.

When the lady tried to explain her point, he physically pushed her down.

Later on, tendering an explanation over twitter, Siddaramaiah called the incident accidental.

Meanwhile, taking on the BJP, which has been trying to give political colours to the incident, he said that he needs no lessons on respecting the women from the BJP at least.
