Bengaluru: A boy in his late teens lost his life recently, when he drowned in a lake in Mangammanpalya, southeast Bengaluru. The boy is said to have been trying to catch ducks while he was swimming in the lake with friends.
Salman Khan (19), the youngest son of two daily wage workers, Hidayat and Mubina, had gone out to swim in the lake with two of his friends around noon. While in the lake, Salman noticed some ducks and ventured into deeper waters to try and catch them. After a while, his friends lost sight of him. They panicked and called for help.
The police rushed to the site along with the personnel from the fire and emergency department soon after they were informed about the incident. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was also called in to help locate the young boy.
Owing to the heavy rains, the search for the boy’s remains was called off by the police who said they would resume the search on Monday morning.
