Bengaluru: The state transport department has increased the taxi fare.
The taxis are categorized into A (Rs.16 lakhs and above rate), B (Rs.10 lakhs – 16 lakhs), C (Rs.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs) and D category cabs upto Rs.5 lakh. As per the revised rate, for first 4 kilometers Rs. 75 has been fixed for D category cabs while it will be Rs.150 for A category taxis.
The minimum fare per kilometre after first four kilometres is Rs.18. The fare revision has been made after an airport taxi driver died by suicide owing to huge financial stress.
App-based aggregators are also asked to follow the same fare on their platform.
