Bengaluru: Tamed elephant Ashoka, which went missing on November 26 from the Kabini backwater area while engaged in the tiger capturing operation in Ankanathapura village of the HD Kote taluk has been traced at the Bisilavadi lake area on Wednesday noon.
According to the forest department officials, even though the authorities tried to take him back to the Mattigod camp, he didn’t come as his mahout was not present.
Later, his mahout Nanjunda was brought to the spot and the elephant agreed to return with him.
According to the sources, the forest department authorities had brought Ashoka from the Mattigod elephant camp to help them capture the tiger in Kabini backwater area. But at the time of the operation, it went missing with the chain and remain untraceable.
