Bengaluru: Amid reports that senior leaders including M B Patil, Vinay Kulkarni and Basavaraja Horatti have now decided not to pursue the demand for a separate religion tag for the Lingayat community due to political compulsions, S M Jamadar, general secretary, World Lingayata Mahasabha stated that there is no question of dropping the agitation. “Our struggle for a separate religious status will continue,” he stated.

“A few leaders would have made statements about dropping the agitation. They are politically motivated statements,” he stated.

“We launched the organisation to spread the preachings of Basavanna to all. We will continue our struggle and knock on the doors of the Supreme Court in this regard,” he said.
