State reports whopping 4,169 cases, 104 deaths; COVID tally breaches 50K

Bengaluru: The state reported a record 4,169 new COVID-19 cases and 104 deaths on Thursday, July 16. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 51,422 and death toll to 1,032.

Bengaluru Urban reported a whopping 2,344 cases and Dakshina Kannada reported 238 new infections. Dharwad reported 176 new cases.

While 1,263 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease today, 537 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Vijayapura (144), Mysuru (130), Kalaburagi (123), Udupi (113), Raichur (101), Belagavi (92), Uttara Kannada (79), Chikkaballapura (77), Bidar (53), Shivamogga (46), Ballari (44), Gadag (44), Kolar (43), Bagalkot (39), Yadagir (34), Koppala (32), Hassan (31), Bengaluru Rural (31), Chikkamagaluru (30), Davanagere (25), Chitradurga (21), Haveri (18), Kodagu (18), Chamarajanagar (16), Tumakuru (12), Mandya (11), and Ramanagar (4).

There are 30,655 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 19,729 have been discharged. Additionally, six people have died of non-COVID causes.
