State reports over 5K COVID cases for second day; 110 more dead

Bengaluru: The state reported 5,007 new COVID-19 cases and 110 deaths on Friday, July 24. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 85,870 and death toll to 1,724.

Bengaluru Urban alone reported a whopping 2,267 cases and Mysuru reported 281 new infections. Udupi reported 190 new cases.

While 2,037 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease today, 611 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Bagalakote (184), Dakshina Kannada (180), Dharwad (174), Kalaburagi (159), Vijayapura (158), Ballari (136), Hassan (118), Belagavi (116), Gadag (108), Raichuru (107), Chikkaballapura (92), Uttara Kannada (88), Bidar (87), Davanagere (77), Shivamogga (67), Tumakuru (59), Haveri (59), Mandya (57), Yadagir (53), Koppala (39), Kolar (36), Chamarajanagara (33), Chikkamagaluru (28), Bengaluru Rural (26), Chitradurga (13), Ramanagara (12), and Kodagu (3).

There are 52,791 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 31,347 have been discharged. Additionally, eight people have died of non-COVID causes.
