State registers 5,172 new COVID-19 cases; 98 dead

Bengaluru: Karnataka reported a record 5,172 new COVID-19 cases and 84 deaths on Saturday, August 1. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 1,29,287 and death toll to 2,412.

Bengaluru Urban alone reported 1,852 cases and Mysuru reported 365 new infections. Ballari reported 269 new cases.

While 3,860 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease today, 602 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Kalaburagi (219), Belagavi (219), Dharwad (184), Hassan (146), Dakshina Kannada (139), Udupi (136), Bagalakote (134), Vijayapura (129), Shivamogga (119), Raichuru (109), Davanagere (108), Koppala (107), Tumakuru (99), Gadag (99), Mandya (95), Bengaluru Rural (93), Chikkaballapura (72), Chitradurga (60), Chikkamagaluru (57), Bidar (52), Haveri (52), Uttara Kannada (51), Ramanagara (51), Chamarajanagara (43), Yadagir (39), Kolar (39), and Kodagu (35).

There are 73,219 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 53,648 have been discharged. Additionally, eight people have died of non-COVID causes.
