Bengaluru: Amid reports of the Defence Ministry planning to shift Aero India out of the Bengaluru city, Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara, on Saturday asked the Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman to clarify her stance on the issue.

In a tweet, which has been widely appreciated by netizens, Dr G Parameshwara pointed out that reports of #AeroIndia being moved out of Bengaluru is very unfortunate. We have been India’s Defence Hub since Independence, but under the NDA we are constantly losing key defence projects and flagship programs. I request @nsitharaman to clarify her stand on the issue.

Reports have suggested that the biennial event, which was last held in Bengaluru in February 2017, would now be held in Lucknow in the month of October-November this year. The Defence Ministry, however, has not made any formal announcement in this regard.

It can be recalled that when Nirmala Sitharaman met CM HD Kumaraswamy to discuss various projects recently, she avoided questions related to shifting Aero India out of Bengaluru.

The proposal of shifting the venue has irked Bengaluru citizens who want Aero India to stay in the city.
