Bengaluru: Khanapura MLA Anjali Nimbalkar had been threatening to quit the Congress and join the BJP till Wednesday evening. It was reported that she was planning to resign on Thursday, but the Congress leadership was able to retain her within the party fold by transferring her husband to a plum portfolio.
On Wednesday evening, the state government transferred Hemant Nimbalkar, IGP, CID (economic offences) as IGP of the Anti Corruption Bureau. “It was the demand putforth by Anjali in front of the party leadership,” explained Congress sources.
ACB IGP M Chandrasekar has been moved to replace Nimbalkar as the new IGP-CID (economic offences).
“A few more transfers are expected in the next couple of days to woo a few MLAs whose resignations are yet to be accepted by the Speaker,” added sources.
