Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration seems to have finally woken upto the concerns being allayed over the increasing number of accidents occuring at the Nantoor Circle, an important junction in the city.
A sum of Rs 60 lakhs has been sanctioned by the state government for undertaking works at the circle, said MLA, J R Lobo adding that tenders has been called for the works, slated to commence by next month.
The tenders will be opened on December 24, he said informing that suitable arrangements will be made for the bus stops, located at the junction so that passengers as well as motorists wont face any hassles.
Interestingly, though the circle happens to be the convergence point of two highways the traffic woes here are worsened due to absence of functional traffic signals. Recently many have voiced the need for a flyover at the junction.
It may be recalled that an accident occured here recently claiming life of an elderly and injuring many others.
