Bengaluru: The state government confers the Karnataka Rajyotsava award every year on 100 eminent personalities of the state. Tthe award is normally conferred on November 1 by the Chief Minister. A month before the state government before the award date, the state government has received as many as 1,000 applications from award seekers.
According to the sources in the state Kannada and Culture department, the state government is yet to form the award committee as per the directions of the high court.
“We have received 800 applications. The Kannada and culture department minister Umashri office has received 200 applications,” informed an officer. “All the applicants have submitted their applications with tens of recommendation letters especially from ruling party MLAs and Ministers. So it is really difficult task to bring down the numbers from 1000 to 100,” he explained.
