Bengaluru: Fearing revolt from the ministers who fail to get a ministerial berth, the state government has decided to carry out the exercise of ministry expansion after the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency goes to polls, it is gathered.

Polls for Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency will be held on May 28.

Though it was earlier decided that a decision about the ministry expansion will be taken immediately after the Janata Dal (S)-Congress coalition wins the trust vote, it was mutually agreed that the process be deferred, in a meeting held between Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Dr. G Parameshwar, Siddaramaiah, State In-charge of Congress Affairs K C Venugopal and JDS National Chief General Secretary Danish Ali at at former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s residence. The ministerial berths would be shared in the ratio of 12:22 between JDS and Congress.

Once the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency polls are held, the Congress leaders will be flying to New Delhi where the High Command would decide on the ministerial berths for aspirant leaders while for the JDS, decision would be taken by Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy.

As per sources, the Congress is likely to induct four Lingayats and four Vokkaligas as ministers.
