Bengaluru: Under pressure from the city’s residents, activists, and corporation staff, the state government has cancelled the transfer of D Randeep (additional commissioner-BBMP- administration). He will continue in the BBMP’s service.
The state government had initially issued an order for Randeep’s transfer from the BBMP to the social welfare department as the commissioner. But, his transfer drew widespread criticism from the civic groups in the city, who alleged that Randeep was being transferred due to pressure from the garbage mafia. Their allegation was that Randeep was trying to bring changes in the system and this mafia wasn’t happy with this.
A few activists had even launched an online petition against Randeep’s transfer.
Now, bowing to the pressure from the public, the state government decided to withdraw its November 30 transfer order. “Randeep will continue in the BBMP,” informed an officer from the DPAR.
