Bengaluru: The state government has approved the proposal to convert 1,000 government-run schools in the city into English medium schools this year.
According to the authorities, the plan is to replace instruction of classes in the Kannada medium with English in these 1,000 schools. “The NCERT syllabus will be followed in these schools. The teachers have already been given the relevant training,” they added.
“These schools will start sessions on May 29. All the school headmasters have been asked to meet the local community representatives and ensure better enrollment,” explained a senior officer who is part of this new initiative.
Meanwhile, the state government has sanctioned the setting up of another 100 Karnataka Public Schools (KPS). This means that the total number of KPS will reach 376. Last year, 276 KPS were started across the state.
