Bengaluru: Rebel Congress MLA, daughter of veteran party leader and also a rebel MLA Ramalinga Reddy, Soumya Reddy has clarified to the media that no further explanation was needed for resignation from Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, July 13, she said, “I don’t have to explain again regarding my father’s resignation. It’s already a known fact.”

Speaking about her father, she said, “My father is a sincere Congress party worker and a leader. He has toiled for 45 years with utmost dignity, honesty and promptness without demanding a portfolio. At one point of time, he used to handle five districts.”

“He is a person who has worked for over four decades for the party, day-in and day-out, without demanding portfolios and even a government bungalow. How many of them worked like this for the party? It is only because of some Congress and coalition leaders’ attitude that my father has been sidelined in the party. The cumulative effect of all this, is what the state coalition is facing today”, she added.

Meanwhile, Soumya expressed her unhappiness over some of the Congress and the state coalition leaders.

She said that she too had worked promptly and honestly without any charges of corruption against her.

“I have attended the party meetings as well as the CLP meeting too. If any charge of corruption on me is proven, I will be the first person to resign from my post”, she added.
