Bengaluru: The Karnataka government organised a sports meet for senior citizens at the Kanteerva Stadium here on Thursday, September 19. The event was held in order to mark World Elders’ Day, which falls on October 1.
Nearly 250 senior citizens attended the meet and participated enthusiastically in all the sporting events.
81-year-old Sarojamma stood first in the 100-metre walking race while Lalithamma (72) bagged the first place in the 200-metre walking race.
Senior citizens belonging to old-age homes were also thrilled to take part in the sports meet.
