Bengaluru: The bail application submitted by the Karnataka Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar and three of his co-accused- Sunil Sharma, Anjaneya and Rajendra in the Income Tax case was accepted by the Special Economic Offences Court in Bengaluru on Saturday, September 15.

The court has ordered Shivakumar and three of his co-accused to sign a bond of Rs one lakh and Rs 25,000 surety each.

In a raid conducted by the Income Tax department in August 2017, unaccounted cash at properties belonging to Shivakumar was seized.

Shivkumar was booked under four cases following the raids that were conducted by I-T officials at Eagleton resort in Bidadi and has got bail in all the four cases.

He was charged under sections 276C(1) [wilful tax evasion] and 277 [false statement in verification] of the Income Tax Act.

The I-T officials had found Rs 8.5 crore in cash with him in August 2017, after that for the following two months all the properties of the minister were raided by the IT department.

Then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had supported Shivakumar by saying that the raids were political strategy played by the opposition to spoil Shivakumar’s name.
