Bengaluru: Speaker K Ramesh Kumar has announced that he will hold former MLA Umesh Jadhav’s hearing on March 25.
Jadhav was elected on a Congress ticket from the Chincholi constituency in the 2018 state assembly election. But he resigned recently to contest on the BJP’s ticket to the Lok Sabha from the Kalaburugi constituency against Congress heavy weight, Mallikharjun Kharge. The BJP recently announced a party ticket to him.
However, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and former CM Siddaramaiah lodged a complaint against Jadhav with the speaker, requesting him not to accept his resignation letter and bar him from contesting in elections for the next five years under the anti-defection law.
Based on this complaint, Speaker Ramesh Kumar will hold Jadhav’s hearing on March 25.
