Bengaluru: The Indian Railways has decided to increase the speed of as many as 11 trains that travel between Bengaluru-Mysuru from Nov 13, with the idea of cutting short the travel duration.
With the increase in speed, the travel time between Bengaluru-Mysuru will be cut down by atleast 2 hours 15 minutes. Earlier, the travel time was 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes. The railway department has increased the speed of 11 trains to 95 km/hr without reducing the stops in railway stations.
The trains travelling from Mysuru-Bengaluru namely Jaipur-Mysuru Express, Kacheguda Express, Hampi/Gol Gumbaz Express, Tuticorin Express, Chamarajanagar-Tirupati Express, and Mailaduturai Express will travel with stepped up speed.
Similarly, trains travelling between Bengaluru-Mysuru such as Renigunta Express, Howrah-Mysuru Express, Mailaduturai Express, Varanasi-Mysuru Express, and Jaipur-Mysuru Express will also go in for increased speed.
It can be recalled that earlier, people had lodged their grievances to the railway department stating that even though the railway track doubling process had been completed the speed had not been increased. The travellers had demanded the department to reduce the number of stops.
