Bengaluru: With the third round of discussion held between Digital Service Providers and South Indian Film Board failing to reach a consensus, no new south Indian movie would be released from March 1, said Karnataka Chalanachitra Vanijya Mandali President Sa.Ra.Govindu.

“To screen South Indian movies, Digital Service providers like UFO and UBE collect heavy amount, which is becoming a burden for producers and the distributors. So, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry film industries will not screen movies from coming March 1. It means we will not give content for the screening,” he said.

All cinema industries of South India have requested CUBE and UFO to cut their amount by 25%, but they are ready to cut it by just 9%. We will give the content only if they agree to our conditions, he clarified.

Sa.Ra. Govindu said that a discussion is also going on about alternative solutions. In spite of CUBE and UFO, even Sony, Panasonic and BMW companies too have come forward to provide digital service at a minimal price. There may be the difference in the quality and discussions are going on, he said.

Meanwhile, he clarified that already released movies will not be affected by this move. “Even the shooting of the movies will not be affected. However, if we adopt any new policy after March 1, there may be smaller changes,” he said.
