Bengaluru: In a curious case, the Jnanabharati police in the city arrested a person by name Attar Arafat (31) for murdering his mother-in-law by crushing her under his car. His father VK Ameer John is also arrested by the police for instigating the murder.
The incident happened on the midnight of March 30 on Sonnenahalli main road. The victim was Riyana Taj (40), a resident of Gopalapura.
According to the police, sources, on March 30, Riyana’s daughter (name withheld) called her parents informing that her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law are assaulting her. When they rushed to the home, they found their daughter lying in a pool of blood. They rushed her to the Victoria Hospital.
“While they were returning from the hospital, Attar Arafat and VK Ameer John allegedly stopped Riyana Taj and others who were in an auto. After a verbal dual, Attar Arafat drove his car over Riyana Taj, who died on the spot.
Meanwhile, Attar Arafat, in his counter complaint alleged that as the relatives of Riyana Taj threw dust on his eyes his sight was distorted and hence the unfortunate incident took place.
