Bengaluru: Police, with the help of a snake expert, rescued six engineering students from a forest in Chikkaballapura, after the lost their way. They had gone into the forest to trek the Skandagiri hills.

The students, all from Bengaluru, were stopped by the forest officials on the main road and were not allowed to go further as they had not taken online permission from the forest department beforehand. Not wanting to return, they took a short cut unbeknownst to the officials and entered the forest at around 3 AM.

They soon lost their way as it was dark and as they were not sure of their way back out, they stayed where they were and waited for sunrise. In the morning, they contacted the police, who told them to contact snake expert Prithviraj. The snake expert found the students using GPS tracking and arrived at the spot along with the forest officials to rescue them.

After being fined Rs 3000, the students were made to submit a written and signed apology stating that they would never again attempt such risky adventures.
