Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Gauri Lankesh team has written a letter to the home ministry to provide additional security to progressive thinkers like actor Girish Karnad, K S Bhagwan, Narendra Nayak and Shri Veerabhadra Channamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Mutt. This action has been taken based on the statements of Parashuram Waghmore, the accused in journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder.
The SIT has requested to provide armed security to all these four, install CCTV cameras at their offices and homes and also provide escorts during their travel.
Journalist Gauri Lankesh was murdered on September 5, 2017. Now, during the investigation, the accused Parashuram Waghmore had revealed that there were plans to murder few more progressive thinkers including these four.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Special Investigation Team, investigating thinker Narendra Dabolker and Govinda Pansare’s murders has arrived in Bengaluru to take Parashurama Waghmore into their custody, according to reports.
