Bengaluru: Two persons have been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the multi-crore IMA fraud case.

The arrested are identified as Brigade Babu and Muneer alias Gun Muneer, a rowdy-sheeter of the Basavanagudi and Tilaknagar police stations. The arrest was made based on a credible tip-off that some people forged the property documents of a building belonging to IMA founder Mansoor Khan in Richmond circle.

It can be recalled that last week, the SIT arrested Assistant Commissioner of Bengaluru North division L C Nagaraj on charges of taking a bribe to give a favourable report in connection with the IMA case. Deputy Commissioner (Urban) Sri Vijayshankar was also arrested by the SIT on charges of receiving a bribe of Rs 1.5 crore from Khan. The two have been sent to judicial custody till July 25.

The IMA Group have been accused of cheating a large number of investors, mainly Muslims, with the promise of impressive returns.
