Bengaluru: Anna Bhagya was the highlight of the Siddaramaiah government, which ruled the state between 2013 and 2018. It helped the party to win the hearts of poor. Now Siddaramaiah has said that the same scheme will be reintroduced if the Congress comes to power again at the state in 2023 assembly polls.
Speaking at a party convention in Bagalkot, he announced that if the Congress is voted to power again in 2023, the free rice scheme will be re-introduced, under which one family will get 10 kilograms of rice free of cost every month.
“This government is destroying the free rice scheme by charging money, bringing down the quantity per family etc. If we win, we will re-introduce the scheme,” he said.
He also stated that all the bhagya schemes launched by him in his tenure will be re-launched. “This government is trying to kill Indira canteens. The government is playing with the life of poor,” he charged.
He expressed confidence that the Congress will bounce back to power in 2023. “GP election results are a proof to show that the Congress is still a big power in the state,” he said.
