Bengaluru: The controversy surrounding the supply of substandard quality bicycles has resulted in the sudden transfer of the celebrated IAS officer, Shalini Rajneesh. She has been moved out of the primary and secondary education department to the Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics Department, considered an insignificant department, as the Principal Secretary.
According to sources, the officer was on the Chief Minister’s Office’s radar after the alleged substandard bicycle supply. “There were a lot of complaints against her style of functioning in the department. Even though she pointed fingers at the DDPIs on the bicycle issue, she was also under the scanner for the alleged failure of the teachers’ transfer process, which was finally stalled due to technical snags. Her decision to sign a MoU with a private firm on the transfer of student data was also questioned. All these resulted in her transfer,” said the sources.
BBMP special commissioner (Solid Waste) D Randeep also moved out of the department. “Another 9 officers have been transferred, including V Ponnuraj, MD, BMTC. He was at loggerheads with transport minister D C Thammanna,” sources explained.
