Bengaluru: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) led opposition has called for a nation-wide bundh on Monday, September 10 to protest the rise in fuel prices. The bundh is expected to receive a good response from the state. The bundh will be observed in all the districts except Kodagu.

According to the Congress leaders, their coalition partner in the state government, the JD(S) has extended their support to the bundh. “Except for hospitals, the supply of milk and other essential services, all other services will be halted in support of the bundh,” said a senior party leader.

“The KSRTC and BMTC will not operate any buses. A holiday has already been declared for schools and colleges. A discussion is currently being held in the chamber of commerce regarding the shutting of businesses,” he added.

School holiday

Private schools across the state have decided to announce a holiday on Monday, keeping in mind the safety of the children. “We can’t wait for the district administration to announce a holiday. This doesn’t mean we are supporting the bundh,” said D Shashikumar, general secretary, Karnataka State Private Schools Association.
