Bengaluru: With the BJP workers and voters turning away from the party’s activities in the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha constituency in protest against the party’s decision to not give a ticket to Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of the late Union minister Ananth Kumar, the RSS stepped for damage control.
Fearing a humiliating defeat in this BJP fort, the RSS sent its senior most leaders including Dattatreya Hosabale, the second top leader of the organisation, to Tejaswini’s residence to request her to campaign. She, however, didn’t respond positively.
According to sources, Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, the BJP’s candidate from Bengaluru North and P C Mohan, party candidate from Bengaluru Central were also worried about their prospects, following the party’s decision to deny Tejaswini a ticket. Both of them communicated their displeasure to the party high command in this regard.
“Bengaluru South is a hit wicket. We will be defeated there for the first time since 1991,” said a senior party leader.
