Bengaluru: After the industrial units of Udupi and Mangaluru, now even the Sea Bird naval base in Uttara Kannada district is reportedly feeling the heat of the water crisis. If sources are to be believed, this naval base, which is also called INS Kadamba is facing acute shortage of water.
According to the sources, the phase 2 works of the project is expected to be stalled if there is no rainfall in the next two days. “There is a shortage of drinking water supply to the staff quarters also. Water is pumped from various water sources which are located 5-6 kilometres away. If things remain unresolved, the naval base is expected to face a lot of problems,” added sources.
