New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 22 refused an early hearing of a petition filed by the Hindu Mahasabha that challenged the oath taking ceremony and appointment of H D Kumarswamy as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, stating it is unconstitutional.

The ABHM, in its plea filed through lawyer Barun Kumar Sinha, has sought the quashing of the Governor’s communication inviting Kumaraswamy to form the government. The petition states that the entire process is unconstitutional and hence the same be set aside.

Kumaraswamy is scheduled to take the oath as Chief Minister on May 23. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh, Kamal Haasan and others are expected to attend this ceremony.
