Bengaluru: Sanatan Sanstha, a right-wing outfit, has been named in the additional charge sheet filed by the special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh with the court. They have sought permission to investigate the case further.
The 9,235-page charge sheet was filed with the Principal Civil and Sessions court here on Friday and in it, the SIT stated that Lankesh was targeted by a network within the Sanatan Sanstha. It was also stated in the charge sheet that Lankesh’s murder took five years to plan.
PTI has quoted Special Public Prosecutor S Balan as saying that there was no enmity between Lankesh and the people who killed her. She was killed because she had a certain ideology and wrote and spoke about it, he informed
As it stands, 18 people have been accused of the murder- Parashuram Waghmare the shooter and Amol Kale, Sujith Kumar alias Praveen and Amit Degwekar, the masterminds, according to the SIT.
The gang also has possible links to the murders of M M Kalburgi, Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare.
