Bengaluru: The BBMP’s Sagayapuram and Kaveripura wards by-election was a dull affair on Wednesday with both the wards registering a low voter turnout.
The Kaveripura ward witnessed just 39% polling while Sagayapuram saw a voter turnout of 44%.
“In a few polling booths, less than 20% voting was reported. The counting will be held on Friday,” informed a BBMP officer.
Meanwhile, in Kaveripura, a tense situation prevailed as BJP activists, led by corporator Umesh Shetty and JDS activist P Prakash, held a dharna claiming that their activists were assaulted by rival parties. Three persons were treated at the KR hospital in the city.
