Bengaluru: Agriculture minister HS Shivashankara Reddy stated that the cloud seeding operation across the state will begin on June 15.
The state government will take up this initiative at an estimated cost of Rs.88 crores.
“The tender process has been completed. Due to the Lok Sabha election, there is a slight delay in the cloud seeding. Last year due to the assembly election we were not able to take up the cloud seeding. This year we will do it,” he said.
He also informed that due to the monsoon failure of 2018, the groundwater level is shrinking across the state. “Keeping in mind all these factors, we have decided to take up cloud seeding,” he said.
According to the sources in the state agriculture department, the cloud seeding will be done in all the drought-hit taluks where the clouds are sighted through the satellites. “It is the only option left at this stage,” informed an officer.
Minister Reddy also stated that there is no confusion in the coalition government. “It will complete the term,” he said.
