Bengaluru: Higher education minister GT Deve Gowda has announced that the state government will provide reservation for victims of sexual assault and orphans in the higher education sector.
“Six universities across the state have made provision for this already. I have directed all the universities and the colleges to implement such a scheme. The idea behind the scheme is to bring the oppressed woman to the mainstream,” he said.
“It is a model initiative. We need to provide a good platform for the women who faced difficulties in life to join the mainstream,” he observed.
He also assured of looking into demands like free education for the girls from the oppressed communities as they don’t have money to pay the fee and bear other expenses.
