Bengaluru: The BBMP mayor and deputy mayor election process have taken momentum with state urban development department announcing the reservation for both the posts.
According to the decision taken by the urban development department, mayor post has been reserved for Scheduled Caste while deputy mayor post has been reserved for general (women). Term of incumbent mayor G Padmavathi is expiring on September 28.
In the year 2015 similar reservation was followed for mayor and deputy mayor posts. New mayor will be 18th mayor of the BBMP.
With five Congress MLAs withdrawing their names from Bengaluru electoral list fearing legal action by the election commission, election for mayor/deputy mayor post is expected to become interesting.
