Bengaluru: RSS state chief Su. Ramanna’s statement against a separate Lingayat religion has now led to a massive controversy. Following a statewide condemnation against the statement, Su. Ramanna has apologised.
It all started on Wednesday morning with senior Lingayat leaders including major Irrigation Minister M B Patil, Mining Minister Vinay Kulkarni and MLC Basavaraja Horatti demanding an apology from the RSS leadership against his statement that those fighting for the separate Lingayat religion are “Shani Santana”.
These leaders had also urged the Lingayat leaders in BJP to quit the party if they “have self-respect”. M B Patil stated that since RSS is a Hindu organisation, it should not interfere in the internal matters of other religions.
Meanwhile, Su. Ramanna has tendered an apology for his statement and also claimed that his statement had been misquoted.
