Bengaluru: Prominent political leader of Chamarajanagar district A.R. Krishnamurthy, who lost the 2004 Assembly election by a single vote, is all set to join the Congress during AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Mysuru on March 25.
Krishnamurthy, son of the late Dalit leader B. Rachaiah, has been in political hibernation from over 14 years, after losing to R. Dhruvanarayan of the Congress in 2004. While Mr. Krishnamurthy, who contested in the then Santemarahalli constituency on the JD(S) ticket, polled 40,751 votes, Dhruvanarayan polled 40,752 votes.
It is learnt that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is keen on inducting Krishnamurthy, as his father had groomed him in politics. The BJP, which promised to send to him to the Legislative Council, failed to keep its promise.
