Bengaluru: The Department of Pre-university Education in Karnataka has decided to use technology to curb the menace of question paper leaks. If all goes well the department will supply the question papers online to the exam centres hours before the examinations start.

This latest experiment to secure the examination process will be implemented on a pilot basis during the PU supplementary examinations that are scheduled to from June 29 to July 10. Two examination centres have been chosen for the test run, officials privy to the information said.

The move is also expected to bring down the logistical cost of physical transfer of question papers and security. DPUE director Shikha said that the question papers will be emailed to chief superintendents of the exam centres two-and-a-half hours before the exam starts. “Chief superintendents will then make arrangements to print the question papers, once they download the question papers,” she informed.

It may be recalled that question papers of two second PU exams were leaked in 2016. A high-level committee that investigated the case had recommended the online transfer of question papers as one of the possible solutions to check the paper leak.
