Bengaluru: The State Pre University Department has decided to introduce National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus for the PU Commerce students from this academic year which will start on June 15, 2017.
According to the sources in the state Pre University Education Department (PUE), decision in this regard has been taken to prepare the students for the various national-level examinations like CA, CAT etc.
According to the officials, state PU department adopted NCERT text books for PUC science students in the academic year 2013-14 itself to prepare them for various national-level admission tests like NEET, JEE, JEE mains. "Compared to state syllabus, NCERT syllabus is more wide and cover more subjects. Presently to pursue any career, commerce students must clear various national-level tests. Keeping this factor in mind, we are adopting NCERT text books from 2017," said an officer.
Text books online
According to the officials, students need not buy text books of the new syllabus. "The NCERT has already provided text books online on their website. Students can download it. For Kannada medium students, PU department itself translated those books and issued print orders. Soon Kannada medium text books will also be made available online," he said.
